Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program reflects President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to the future of Indonesian children, according to an official.

"This is his number one quick-win program," said Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), during a discussion on the program held on Wednesday.

Nasbi noted that the government's significant focus on the program is evident through tangible actions, such as the PCO's intensive visits to several Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), which supply food for the program.

The government ensures that every step, from the provision of food ingredients to distribution, adheres to strict standards to maintain the quality and hygiene of the food, he added.

To achieve this goal, Nasbi said, President Prabowo has instructed synergy across ministries, agencies, and local governments to expedite the development of SPPG facilities.

Each SPPG can serve food to up to 3,000 beneficiaries. Thus, accelerating development is considered key to the program's success.

Nasbi emphasized that this program also has a considerable social impact. In addition to improving nutritional intake, it fosters positive habits in children, such as queuing, handwashing, and eating vegetables.

"This change not only improves physical health but also builds the character of our future generation," he remarked.

According to Nasbi, the government hopes to produce a healthy generation and prepare Indonesia for its golden era through the MBG program.

The government officially launched the program on January 6 with a budget of Rp71 trillion (around US$4.35 billion).
