Jakarta (ANTARA) - Representatives from Indonesia and Denmark held a meeting here earlier this week to review ongoing cooperation in the field of intellectual property (IP).

According to a statement released here on Saturday, the Law Ministry's Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) and the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO) implemented several programs in 2024.

Those programs include training for law enforcement, capacity building for intellectual property examiners, and training on the utilization and commercialization of IP.

"This collaboration is not only important for DJKI but also all stakeholders in intellectual property in Indonesia," DJKI's director of cooperation, empowerment, and education, Yasmon, said during the meeting on Wednesday (January 22, 2025).

He noted that the collaborative programs started in September 2024.

During the meeting with DKPTO, he also shared three main proposals for cooperation in 2025.

The first is related to human resource development for IP examiners, including those specializing in patents, trademarks, and industrial designs.

The second is related to discussions and knowledge transfer regarding the National Intellectual Property Strategy, and the third, is digital piracy training for members of the Indonesian intellectual property operations task force.

He emphasized that deliberating on the National Intellectual Property Strategy is crucial as his team is responsible for discussing and drafting the national strategy.

Meanwhile, the secretary of DJKI, Andrieansyah, shared further proposals related to digital issues, such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

"We hope that DKPTO can share its experiences with AI, such as its use in public services and other areas in Denmark," he said at the same meeting.

Through this collaboration, it is hoped that Indonesia's intellectual property system will grow stronger and become better prepared to face global challenges, he added.
