"TNI and Polri are two institutions that embody the state's presence and the enforcement of sovereignty, the Constitution, laws, presidential decrees, and government regulations," Prabowo stated during the TNI-Polri leadership meeting in Jakarta on Thursday (Jan 30).
According to Prabowo, laws and regulations are meaningless without proper enforcement by law enforcement agencies.
"All the best plans of a nation are meaningless if they are not implemented," the retired army general remarked.
The president emphasized that TNI and Polri must diligently fulfill their duties as mandated by law. He also warned that a weak military and police force is one of the indicators of a failed state.
Prabowo provided directives to over 600 senior and middle-ranking officers from TNI and Polri.
In his address, he reminded Indonesian soldiers and police officers that the authority and power they are entitled to, including the use of weapons, is a public trust that must not be misused.
Soldiers and police officers are also reminded that their salaries come from the citizens.
"The people demand that you have very high dedication, very high sacrifice, and it can even be said that when you accept the mandate, accept the power, you have actually surrendered your soul and body to the nation and the people," Prabowo noted.
The 2025 TNI-Polri leadership meeting was held with the theme "TNI-Polri Synergy to Support Astacita to Realize Golden Indonesia 2045.”
According to Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, such meeting is routinely held to strengthen synergy and solidarity while aligning the duties and roles of the TNI-Polri to prevent threats from within and outside the country, maintain security stability, and oversee future government agendas.
