“It is safe to say that the local elections were the most straightforward aspect for the public to assess in evaluating the government’s performance during the first 100 days,” Sugiarto stated in an official release on Friday.
A survey conducted by Kompas R&D earlier this month found that 80.9 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with the government led by President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Among various aspects, political and security factors stood out, with a satisfaction rate of 85 percent.
Sugiarto emphasized that this positive trend is the result of the hard work and dedication of multiple parties, particularly the General Elections Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP), the military, and the police.
The deputy minister highlighted that strong collaboration among these institutions enabled Indonesian citizens to exercise their political rights in a safe and secure environment.
“The public has appreciated our collective efforts in guiding this nation through complex electoral processes while prioritizing unity despite differences,” he remarked.
Furthermore, he argued that the successful implementation of last year’s regional elections contributed to political stability and bolstered public trust in the government.
In light of this, Sugiarto encouraged all relevant stakeholders to actively participate in discussions on the proposed amendment to the Regional Election Law, which aims to enhance simultaneity.
"We will discuss the simultaneity aspect and its impacts on the quality and participation of voters. Our plan also includes evaluating the coordination mechanism between KPU, Bawaslu, and other relevant institutions," he concluded.
