Maharani made this commitment during her visit to Italy, where she participated in the World Leaders' Summit on Children's Rights.
"We need to explore innovative approaches to strengthen children's rights and foster a safer world for them," Maharani noted in a statement from her office on Monday.
The House speaker emphasized that war constitutes the most significant breach of children's rights, urging all stakeholders to establish safe zones in conflict areas with the backing of international humanitarian organizations to protect children.
Maharani highlighted the alarming rates at which armed conflict continues to displace, recruit, and harm children.
She emphasized that while traditional humanitarian aid is essential, it is insufficient on its own.
"We need to integrate child protection programs within religious and cultural institutions, especially as we are living amid increasing geopolitical tensions, such as in Gaza and Ukraine," she stressed.
To that end, Maharani called on all parties to provide shelter, education, and medical assistance for child victims of war.
After signing the commitment, she visited child survivors of war, including Roman Oleksiv, a survivor of the Ukrainian war.
Maharani asserted that every child deserves the right to live in safety and categorized child soldiers as victims rather than criminals.
"We must invest in rehabilitation programs to help them reintegrate into society," she emphasized.
In pursuit of this objective, the speaker identified education as the most powerful tool, including empowering children and addressing issues of exploitation and poverty that persist among children in some parts of the world.
“Our support and commitment is important since traditional education often fails to reach the most marginalized children, especially those in war zones, rural areas, and refugee camps,” she noted.
