"We are preparing operational plans in all transportation modes, namely land, sea, air, and railways," he said in a statement released on Thursday.
For land transportation, his ministry is focusing on ensuring the readiness of road and public transportation infrastructure, traffic engineering management, and various points related to security aspects.
For sea transportation, especially to anticipate vehicle density around ports, the ministry will implement a delaying system at Merak, Ciwandan, and BBJ Bojonegara Ports.
For air transportation, Purwaghandi said that his party will integrate airport accessibility and regulate airport slot capacity.
Meanwhile, in the railway sector, the ministry plans to re-open direct train routes, namely Jakarta-Semarang and Jakarta-Yogyakarta, to add more options for passengers, he informed.
According to the minister, the results of the transportation evaluation and recommendations for improvements from the previous Christmas and New Year holidays are relevant to be applied to homecoming transportation this year.
Some of them are related to the implementation of buffer zones, which have proved effective in easing congestion in access to ferry ports, especially Merak and Bakauheni, and the optimization of underutilized terminals for LCC airlines to support sustainable reductions in airline ticket prices.
They further include the operation of Karawang Station for the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train while still considering safety aspects, digitalization of online ticket purchases for all modes of transportation, and optimization of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport to prevent the accumulation of passenger queues at Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta.
Furthermore, the Transportation Ministry will compile a study on the implementation of a work-from-anywhere (WFA) scheme to reduce traffic density during the peak of the homecoming flow, simplify business processes at Merak Port, and build new docks in Cilegon and Merak.
