The collaboration was highlighted by the meeting of the Indonesian defense attaché in Cairo, Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin, with the commander of the Egyptian Navy, Vice Admiral Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa Megahed, at the Egyptian Navy headquarters in Alexandria on Wednesday.
Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Office, First Admiral I Made Wira Hady, confirmed the news of the courtesy visit here on Friday.
He noted that Indonesia and Egypt have a strong history of bilateral relations, underscored by the visit of the Indonesian President in December 2024 and regular visits by Indonesian naval ships to Port Said and Alexandria.
He added that the countries' solid relationship has led to several military collaborations, including state visits and joint exercises.
Hady informed that during their meeting, Syahruddin and Megahed discussed several key areas of military cooperation, including enhancing navy-to-navy relations through joint exercises, training, and collaboration in the defense industry.
