Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's success in simultaneously achieving favorable rates of inflation, poverty, and economic growth has garnered international attention, according to Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

"Currently, our inflation rate may be the lowest compared to other countries in ASEAN and G20, sparking envy among many countries," she remarked, referring to Indonesia's January 2025 inflation rate of 0.76 percent year-on-year.

Speaking during the Mandiri Investment Forum 2025 in Jakarta on Tuesday, Indrawati asserted that the low inflation rate is a result of the government's effective monetary and fiscal policies.

Elaborating on the fiscal approach, the minister noted that the incentives offered to regional governments that succeed in controlling inflation have contributed to the favorable rate at the national level.

She further stated that fiscal policies have helped stabilize prices of essential food items, such as rice, chicken, and eggs.

On that note, the state treasurer emphasized that the availability of such commodities for households is not to be overlooked, as she believes that these essential goods greatly factor into the economic state of a country.

She then highlighted that Indonesia has been successful in increasing its economic growth while suppressing its rates of poverty and unemployment.

"The combination of high economic growth, stable prices or low inflation, and a decline in unemployment and poverty rates is a notable feat rarely seen in other countries," she stressed.

She contended that, unlike Indonesia, other countries tend to experience favorable trends only in certain areas, such as economic growth, inflation, poverty, or employment.

"It should be noted that achieving high economic growth, low inflation, and a decline in unemployment and poverty simultaneously is an exceptional feat," she stated.

Last year, Indonesia's economic growth stood at 5.03 percent, with a poverty rate of 8.57 percent in September and a 4.91 percent open unemployment rate in August, according to Statistics Indonesia (BPS).
