"The Indonesian government, along with the UAE, agreed to collaborate towards clean energy and strengthening industrial digitalization,” Airlangga remarked after a meeting with UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei in Dubai on Tuesday (February 11).
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the World Government Summit, both ministers highlighted the importance of technology integration in the industrial sector, including robotics and unmanned production systems, which have been applied in several sectors, such as manufacturing and mining.
Indonesia has already started using unmanned trucks in mining operations, such as those at Freeport, and digital-based production systems to increase efficiency.
Airlangga stated that Indonesia welcomes the ongoing construction of solar power plants supported by the UAE this year as part of the energy transition.
He added that the UAE, as one of the largest investors in Indonesia, has been actively involved in several infrastructure development and energy transition projects in the country.
"We greatly appreciate the UAE's support for Indonesia's growth in building strategic infrastructure such as toll roads and ports through the Abu Dhabi Growth Fund," he emphasized.
The UAE's contribution to building Southeast Asia's largest solar power plant in Cirata, West Java, is one of the monumental and significant collaborations for Indonesia's clean energy transition.
"Indonesia has expressed its readiness to continue intensive economic cooperation with the UAE through several bilateral formats that have been established," he affirmed.
Meanwhile, Minister Suhail stressed the UAE's commitment to supporting the development of green energy infrastructure in Indonesia.
One tangible step is the planned cooperation to build solar power plants with a capacity of up to 10 GW to meet energy needs and create opportunities to export electricity to nearby countries.
The UAE also highlighted the significance of building data centers, given the rising need for data in big countries such as the US and China.
Furthermore, Minister Suhail expressed the UAE's readiness to be a strategic partner for Indonesia's industrialization, including helping to create a power grid system in ASEAN, which had yet to be realized.
The UAE is also open to investing in various sectors and inviting more business actors to collaborate with Indonesia.
"We are very interested in increasing investment and are ready to support Indonesia in creating new economic opportunities through investment in the energy, digitalization, and industrialization sectors," Suhail told Airlangga.
