As cited in his ministry's statement here on Wednesday, Fauzan reiterated that the program is essential to the realization of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, as it aims to drive the physical, mental, and character development of national future talents.
On that note, he underlined that the government expects universities to play a role in this goal by conducting relevant qualitative and quantitative studies.
"All higher education institutions are expected to collaborate to welcome Golden Indonesia 2045 by supporting the Free Nutritious Meals program," Fauzan stated.
According to the deputy minister, IPB University's initiative to set up a center of excellence for the program should be viewed as an exemplary move that other campuses can emulate to help tackle public issues.
"Universities must assume a bigger role in addressing problems the public faces," he stressed.
In the same statement, Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, shared a similar view, saying that the center of excellence established by the state university could emerge as a partner to the agency in implementing the meals program it oversees.
"This initiative will help us enhance the quality of the Free Nutritious Meals program," he stated.
He also underlined that the BGN requires feedback from universities and the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) to mitigate and address shortcomings of the program.
Meanwhile, National Development Planning Minister Rachmat Pambudy emphasized that the government has designated the meals program as an initiative of high priority, which is aimed at producing quality human resources.
"Therefore, we all need to support this program, as it targets not only children but also pregnant women. This program is vital for the future of our nation," he remarked.
The officials made these remarks during the launch of the center of excellence in Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday (February 11).
