Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry for Migrant Workers Protection (KP2MI) strives to create opportunities for migrant worker placement in New Zealand and Hungary.

In a press release from KP2MI received here on Friday, Deputy Minister Christina Aryani stated that potential new countries for placing Indonesian migrant workers, New Zealand and Hungary, were identified after gathering input and conducting joint evaluations with placement companies.

However, she noted that quotas currently limit worker placement in New Zealand while drawing attention to the political challenges in Hungary.

"We will discuss this with authorities in those countries and our representatives there to assess the situation and explore other ways to place migrant workers from Indonesia there," she noted on Thursday (February 13).

Aryani stated that the ministry continues to focus on established markets, such as Taiwan, Malaysia, and Middle Eastern countries, in addition to these new potential countries, for the placement of Indonesian migrant workers.

"We are also seeking feedback on non-traditional markets that we could explore in the future. We received several suggestions and will follow up on them," she remarked.

Regarding the effort to gather aspirations and conduct evaluations, Aryani emphasized that her ministry alone cannot reach its goal of placing 425 thousand migrant workers in 2025.

Consequently, KP2MI requires the active cooperation and support of migrant worker placement companies.

"We aim to place 425 thousand migrant workers this year. This is a big target, and we must explore every opportunity to achieve it," she affirmed.

Earlier, Minister of Migrant Workers Protection Abdul Kadir Karding said his side is focused on campaigning for safe channels for Indonesians seeking overseas employment to better protect them.

Minister Karding affirmed that efforts continue to be carried out to increase the protection of migrant workers.
