"We can see very strong support from the people and parliament. Therefore, I can confidently say that Mr Prabowo is the president with the highest level of support from both the people and the DPR," he remarked.
Jokowi made this statement during his speech at an event marking the 17th anniversary of the Prabowo-led Gerindra Party in Bogor District, West Java, on Saturday.
To substantiate his praise, the former president emphasized the Prabowo administration's early success, which was reflected in its impressive 80.9 percent public approval rate in its first 100 days of service.
Additionally, Jokowi contrasted this figure with his administration's approval rating of 62 percent at the 100-day mark in 2014.
That approval rating dropped to 52 percent after the then-president decided to raise fuel prices shortly after the three-month mark.
Jokowi emphasized that Prabowo’s higher public support demonstrates the success of the new government’s programs in winning over the people's trust and satisfaction in such a short period.
He then highlighted that the Prabowo administration's approval rating among national lawmakers also exceeded 80 percent.
The former head of state emphasized that this positive trend provides valuable political capital for President Prabowo to make his government's programs successful.
"With the favorable approval rates and strong political support in mind, I am confident that Mr. Prabowo will succeed in implementing his programs," he stated.
Jokowi delivered these remarks in the presence of Prabowo's ministers, as well as leaders of coalition parties.
