During an event marking the 17th anniversary of the Gerindra Party, which he leads, Prabowo emphasized the importance of honoring past national leaders and recognizing their positive contributions.
"Thank you, Mr. Jokowi, thank you. We should respect our predecessors and appreciate their achievements instead of focusing on shortcomings. I believe they have all contributed their share of service and goodness," Prabowo remarked.
He acknowledged that while every leader has imperfections, the nation must learn from them to move forward.
Prabowo also praised Jokowi for ensuring a smooth power transition last year, calling it one of the most successful in Indonesia’s history.
In this context, he contrasted Indonesia’s transition of power with those in other countries, which have often led to political turmoil.
Reflecting on his first 100 days in office, Prabowo highlighted several initiatives his administration had implemented for the people's benefit.
"We have done many things during the first 100 days, but this is just the beginning. We should avoid complacency, as the people expect more from us," he told the audience.
He specifically mentioned the Free Nutritious Meals program and credited Jokowi for establishing the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), which oversees the initiative.
"Mr. Jokowi approved the formation of the BGN before October," he stated, referring to the month of his inauguration.
He emphasized that Jokowi's decision allowed his government to better prepare for the program, which launched in January.
"I was told the program has reached 770,000 children. Our target is 1 million by the end of February and 6 million by July," Prabowo said.
