"The construction of the key buildings in Nusantara City is still ongoing," OIKN Head Basuki Hadimuljono confirmed in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, on Monday.
Those key buildings include the Vice President's Palace, for which the project groundbreaking was carried out on August 12, 2024.
"The Presidential Secretariat's office is completed 100 percent, and the OIKN office will be complete in March 2025," Hadimuljono stated.
Additionally, four hamlets are available to house OIKN employees or serve as residential areas.
The OIKN head affirmed that he will commence working from Nusantara City in March 2025.
Some OIKN employees have relocated to the new capital through a phased approach. In the future, all OIKN activities will be carried out in Nusantara.
OIKN has also guaranteed that the central government has approved the construction of infrastructure for the new capital, utilizing a state budget of approximately Rp48.8 trillion (around US$3 billion), along with support from financing schemes other than the state budget.
Hadimuljono noted that the second development phase includes the construction of legislative and judicial offices, aligning with the goal of establishing Nusantara as the political capital in 2028.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti highlighted that the development of Nusantara is progressing, with particular emphasis on legislative and judicial areas.
She affirmed that this focus is based on a directive from President Prabowo. Meanwhile, OIKN will proceed with further planning for the development of the new capital.
