This has been deemed necessary since each region has its own challenges related to the Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus flow.
"The challenges to mobility, be it for land, sea, and air (travel), vary from one region to another," he said in a statement released here on Monday.
He outlined the challenges each region will need to address to deal with the homecoming flow. For example, Java, Sumatra, Bali, and Sulawesi will need to focus on handling the homecoming flow on land routes.
Similar measures will also need to be taken by other regions that rely on sea and air transportation.
It has been deemed necessary for regional governments to ensure that the routes can be traversed by people smoothly, including by taking measures to ensure ticket prices of transportation modes such as airplanes do not rise too much.
The minister further said that to support the smooth flow of homecoming, he has issued Circular Letter Number 400.6.1/749/SJ concerning the Readiness of Regional Governments in Supporting the 2025 Eid al-Fitr Homecoming Flow.
The letter urges regional heads to take steps to ensure the readiness of transportation systems, supporting infrastructure, as well as public order, including mitigating disaster risks and providing other supporting services.
Karnavian asked regional governments to check the condition of land, sea, and air transportation infrastructure and take action if they find any infrastructure that requires improvement.
Furthermore, regional governments have been asked to ensure that transportation management pays attention to security aspects.
In addition, he appealed to regional governments that have pioneer airports to check their readiness. According to the minister, many regions are currently offering flight subsidies to help ease the community's burden.
