"This humanitarian aid is based on direct instructions of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud and also Crown Prince and Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud," Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, said at the Baznas Office here.
He informed that the aid provision reflects the role that Saudi Arabia wishes to play for the Islamic world, especially the Indonesian people.
Through the food aid, Saudi Arabia wants to help meet the needs of Muslims across the world, especially the Muslim community in Indonesia, ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, chairperson of the National Alms Agency (Baznas), Noor Achmad, expressed his gratitude over the distribution of the food aid packages.
"We thank the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially King Salman and the King Salman Foundation (KS Relief)," he said.
He also conveyed Baznas' readiness for broader cooperation with Saudi Arabia in all fields, not only humanitarian, but also economic, and others.
The total number of food packages provided on Monday stood at 7,911. The packages will be sent to four regions—Jakarta (3,111 packages), West Java (1,400), Banten (1,100), and Central Java (2,300).
The aid packages include rice, oil, sardines, instant noodles, soy sauce, chili sauce, salt, and sugar.
Besides representatives of the Saudi Arabian Embassy, KS Relief, and Baznas, the event was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Social Affairs, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
