Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has vowed to enhance the quality of life for judges, acknowledging their heavy workload and the fact that some still lack official housing, forcing them to rent or live in boarding houses.

Prabowo expressed his resolve to address these issues during a speech at the Special Session of the Supreme Court (MA) Annual Report for 2024 here on Wednesday.

"I am determined to work with the legislative body (DPR), and we will discuss how we must improve the quality of life for all judges," Prabowo affirmed.

However, the president recognized that his views often face differing opinions from several experts.

"I have raised this issue multiple times, and some experts have responded, 'Sir, the situation is actually like this, actually like that.' But today, I want to emphasize that our judges deserve the best quality of life," he remarked.

On the same occasion, the president emphasized that no judges should be residing in boarding houses.

"I also received reports that many of our judges do not have official housing. Many of our judges are still renting. This should not happen," he emphasized.

Prabowo attended the MA Special Session for the 2024 Annual Report alongside several ministers, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Attorney General ST Burhanuddin.

The president also expressed his gratitude to the judges, who shoulder a heavy workload.

"Your burden is very heavy because every citizen depends on your decisions. Our people seek justice, especially those who are the weakest, the poorest, and the most powerless. Their last resort for justice is the judges," he stated.
