"For the first time in our country, we inaugurate 33 governors, 33 deputy governors, 363 district heads, 362 deputy district heads, 85 mayors, and 85 deputy mayors, with a total of 961 regional leaders," Prabowo noted in his speech during the ceremony at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta.
Prabowo highlighted that Thursday's inauguration was the first time a president had inaugurated hundreds of regional leaders simultaneously.
In his speech, President Prabowo congratulated all elected regional heads and deputy regional heads.
The president expressed appreciation for the people's mandate to these new leaders to advance their respective regions.
"I would like to congratulate you all for the mandate given by the people of your respective regions," he remarked.
Prabowo emphasized the importance of collaboration between the central and regional governments in realizing equitable and sustainable development.
He also expressed hope that the regional governments would work by upholding integrity and prioritizing the people's interests.
The inauguration of regional leaders on Thursday was held following the 2024 Regional Leaders Election held on November 27.
After their inauguration, 505 regional leaders are scheduled to participate in a retreat on February 21-28 at the Military Academy, Magelang, Central Java.
