At the meeting on Wednesday, Nasir thanked Brazil for supporting Indonesia's BRICS membership and its commitment to be active in the organization.
"As a new member of BRICS, Indonesia is committed to actively participating in all BRICS agendas and workflows," the Indonesian deputy minister said in his statement.
Indonesia is also hopeful of Brazil's support for ASEAN being invited to the upcoming G20 Summit in South Africa, he added.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Vieira expressed the hope that President Prabowo Subianto will attend the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro in July 2025, which, he said, could help strengthen Indonesia's role in BRICS.
In addition to cooperation within the scope of BRICS, the two ministers also discussed bilateral relations and global developments such as the challenges of multilateralism.
In the bilateral context, Nasir and Vieira discussed collaboration in food security and agreed to prepare a more comprehensive bilateral cooperation roadmap.
To that end, Indonesia expects Brazil to help start negotiations on the Indonesia-Mercosur Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IM-CEPA) without delay.
Regarding multilateralism, Indonesia and Brazil agreed on the importance of joint efforts to encourage efforts to reform the global order to make it more inclusive and reflect the current geopolitical balance.
"Indonesia believes that cooperation between Global South countries must be further strengthened to ensure a fairer and more representative global system," Deputy FM Nasir said.
He attended the G20 FMM, which aimed to discuss the latest geopolitical developments and evaluate the group's 20-year journey since its formation.
Prior to the G20 FMM, foreign ministers and heads of delegations of MIKTA countries (Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia) also met to consolidate the role of emerging powers in global governance.
