"I am hoping for the entry of investments from Japan, both in terms of economy and education, especially in the Patriot Transmigration program," he noted in a statement on Friday.
While attending an event marking the 65th birthday of Japanese Emperor Naruhito in Jakarta on Thursday, he highlighted Japan's consistent, long-standing role as one of Indonesia's key investment and business partners.
The Japanese government also pays significant attention to human resource development, reflected by several scholarship programs and educational infrastructure assistance for Indonesia.
The Patriot Transmigration program is one of the Ministry of Transmigration's flagship programs which aims to downstream transmigration human resources.
He stated that this effort is the key to accelerating the transformation from transmigration areas to Integrated Transmigration Economic Areas (KETT).
Through this program, young Indonesians are provided the opportunity to obtain scholarships at the best universities in Indonesia and abroad.
After completing their education, they will be placed in transmigration areas as accelerators of regional development.
Meanwhile, Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Masaki Yasushi lauded Indonesians' work ethic, saying that they are known as hard workers in the fields of medical services, manufacturing, agriculture, fisheries, and services.
He highlighted that the people of Japan highly laud those Indonesian workers.
The birthday celebration event was also attended by Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono as the guest of honor representing the Indonesian government.
