"No one is immune to the law in this country. The KPK can investigate Danantara, especially for inappropriate criminal actions. It is very possible," Roeslani noted in a press statement at the Presidential Palace on Monday.
He remarked that Danantara is also subject to audits by the BPK, especially for the use of the state budget related to the public service obligation (PSO) program.
Roeslani stated that Danantara is the most supervised agency, as all elements are involved while adding that he is also responsible for reporting to President Prabowo Subianto.
He noted that Danantara has a multi-layered supervision system.
"We have a multi-layered organizational structure. In addition to the Supervisory Board, we also have the Advisory Board and the Oversight Committee, along with Audit Committee, Investment Committee, Ethics Committee, and others to ensure this agency is run properly," he explained.
On Monday, Prabowo launched Danantara at the Presidential Palace, where he was joined by his predecessors: seventh President Joko Widodo and sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
In the organizational structure of BPI Danantara, Prabowo appointed Roeslani as the CEO, Pandu Sjahrir as chief investment officer (CIO) to manage the investment, and Dony Oskaria as chief operating officer (COO) to manage the operation.
The president also appointed Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir as Chairman of the Danantara Supervisory Board, Muliaman Hadad as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati as a member of the Supervisory Board.
The Supervisory Board will be filled by President Widodo and President Yudhoyono, among others.
In addition, the Danantara Supervisory Committee comprises the BPK, the Government’s Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP), the KPK, the Attorney General's Office, the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), and other institutions.
Danantara is projected to become Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund by managing assets worth more than USD900 billion. For the initial funding, a budget of USD20 billion is prepared for the agency.
Prabowo said the funds managed by Danantara will be utilized to finance sustainable and high-impact projects in various sectors, such as renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, downstream industries, and food production.
