"The most important aspect in the investment we make is one that has a big impact and is sustainable, continuous. And what is the end result? The goal is job creation," he remarked at the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2025 in Jakarta, Wednesday.
The investment and downstreaming minister explained that investments managed by Danantara would drive the wheels of the Indonesian economy and encourage industrialization, which will ultimately open up more jobs.
He acknowledged that job creation is the biggest challenge facing Indonesia, and Danantara is committed to unwaveringly contributing to this effort through targeted and sustainable investments.
Rosan elaborated that the structure of the Indonesian economy, which is primarily driven by domestic consumption and investment, makes the investment sector crucial for attaining sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
He highlighted that around 28-29 percent of Indonesia's economic growth is derived from investment, rendering this sector vital in fostering long-term growth and encouraging job creation.
"If we look at it, why does this investment play a very important role? If we look at the structure of our economic growth, 53-54 percent comes from domestic consumption, approximately 28-29 percent of which is from investment. Then there is government spending of 8-9 percent, 2 percent of which is net exports," he explained.
According to Rosan, with larger and more targeted investments, Danantara can accelerate the achievement of Indonesia's economic growth target, which is estimated to reach 8 percent in 2029.
He stated that Danantara offers reassurance and confidence to foreign investors by presenting mutually beneficial opportunities, thereby encouraging them to invest in Indonesia.
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration with foreign investors, where Danantara not only invites them to invest but also provides opportunities for collaborative investment ventures.
"Now, we are not only asking them to invest in Indonesia, but at the same time, we can also invest together with them. The term is we put the skin on the game, we invest together,” Rosan concluded.
