"The absence of political and security stability will dampen development efforts, preventing us from improving the people's welfare and developing this nation optimally," he told regional heads during an orientation retreat at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java, on Wednesday (February 26).
As cited from his ministry's release on Thursday, Gunawan affirmed that security and political conduciveness would pave the way for the realization of sustainable economic growth.
To that end, the minister called on regional leaders to foster synergy among themselves and with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) to effectively execute their programs.
He also emphasized the need for regional governments to conduct early detection of potential conflicts in society.

Referring to the economic sector, he encouraged regional governments to provide facilities and convenience for investors, such as by accelerating the process of obtaining related permits.
Furthermore, Gunawan underscored that the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs and policies has been on track, mentioning the push for budget efficiency that has prompted government institutions to innovate and find alternative financial sources.
He underlined that local leaders, as representatives of the central government, should support the implementation of national initiatives, ensuring that they are impactful and beneficial to the people.
In this regard, the minister advocated for effective coordination between the central and regional administrations.
"Regional heads should actively coordinate with the central government, execute its policies responsibly, ensure the implementation of national programs in their regions, and collaborate to overcome obstacles," he concluded.
