Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture has expressed its readiness to coordinate the implementation of child protection regulations in the digital space to ensure they run optimally and safeguard the younger generation.

"We will ensure how cross-ministerial coordination works in preparing the policy (regulations related to child protection in the digital space) and also its supervision," the ministry's Deputy for Improvement of Family and Population Quality, Woro Srihastuti, remarked here on Thursday.

At the "Safer Internet Day 2025" event, Srihastuti stated that a cross-ministerial coordination was conducted last week.

During that meeting, officials discussed child protection in the digital space and regulations from the children's mental health perspective.

"There are certain inputs to ensure that in the regulation preparation, the perspective of mental health is taken into account," she remarked.

According to the deputy, in addition to coordinating with different ministries and government agencies, her side is also tasked with coordinating with civil organizations that are engaged in addressing the issue.

She underscored the need for such coordination to ensure that the regulations not only take into account the aspect of child safety but also the facet of fulfilling children's rights.

The regulations will thus accommodate all parties involved.

The government, through the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemenkomdigi), is currently preparing regulations on children's protection in the digital space.

The PPPA Ministry is responsible for creating the Child Protection Roadmap in the Online Realm (PARD).

Meanwhile, Kemenkomdigi is assigned the task of finalizing the Government Regulation (PP) named the Child Protection Governance by Electronic Systems.
