Jakarta (ANTARA) - Several regional leaders, after attending the 2025 Regional Heads and Deputy Regional Heads Retreat at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java, expressed their commitment to improving public welfare.

According to the Presidential Secretariat statement received here on Friday, Deputy Mayor of Tegal, Central Java, Tazkiyyatul Muthmainnah, was one of the regional leaders who expressed readiness to strive for people's welfare.

Muthmainnah emphasized that the retreat fostered stronger collaboration between the central, provincial, and local governments.

She affirmed that the Tegal City Government is prepared to implement President Prabowo Subianto’s directives, particularly in optimizing regional potential and ensuring budget efficiency.

"This is the first time this retreat has been held, and I believe it is highly significant. It strengthens our unity, as reflected in our slogan -- cohesive, solid, and united for the people. We must be fighters against poverty and work towards public prosperity," she stated.

A similar statement was made by Piter Gusbager, the District Head of Keerom, Papua, in which he said that the retreat event provided essential training for regional leaders.

Gusbager underscored the need to strengthen coordination between the central and local governments to ensure the effective implementation of national policies.

He pointed out that several policy programs would fail to align in the absence of synergy between the central and local governments.

"Moreover, the skills of the regional leaders must continue to be honed, updated, and enhanced," he stated.

Furthermore, Gusbager underscored the importance of downstreaming and industrialization in enhancing regional competitiveness.

He pointed out that every region possesses unique potential that should be maximized to drive economic growth.

"Therefore, among the eight goals emphasized, the most important for boosting the regional economy is through downstreaming and industrialization," he asserted.
