Addressing reporters in Jakarta on Friday, Adita Irawati, spokesperson for the Presidential Communication Office, revealed that the market operations began on February 24 and will end on March 28, covering 215 locations on Java Island and 110 spots across other regions.
"Multiple ministries and institutions are collaborating on these market operations to stabilize prices. Through these efforts, the government is offering cooking oil, sugar, and buffalo meat at prices lower than their highest retail prices," she stated.
The state institutions involved include the Agriculture Ministry, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), the National Food Agency (Bapanas), and several SOEs focused on food and logistics.
She stressed that President Prabowo Subianto has instructed his aides to prepare this initiative to help the community optimally welcome the fasting month and the Eid holiday period.
Irawati further noted that the central government has been closely coordinating with regional administrations to ensure sufficient and affordable food commodities.
She then highlighted that stocks of key commodities, such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, and frozen meat, will suffice until May this year.
"It is now a matter of distributing them effectively to avoid shortages during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr," she added.
Regarding toll road services, the spokesperson revealed that the government plans to reduce tariffs on several toll roads during the homecoming and its reverse flow periods.
Moreover, she noted that some transportation operators intend to offer discounted ticket prices.
The spokesperson further emphasized that the Ministry of Transportation, along with other relevant institutions, has inspected the readiness of various transportation facilities and infrastructure.
