Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, stated here on Saturday that all involved parties should work quickly to finish infrastructure projects such as functional toll roads, bridges, and access roads on Eid exodus routes.
"Therefore, we need to prepare road infrastructure, including toll roads, non-toll roads, and other supporting transportation facilities that must be completed in time for public use," he added.
He noted that in addition to speeding up infrastructure projects, the government is also encouraging ministries and government agencies to quickly improve and add facilities that support travel flow during Eid.
"We must ensure that various transportation supporting facilities for land, sea, and air are available. The Minister of Transportation and the Minister of Public Works are actively working to provide better facilities," he said.
Yudhoyono informed that to ensure smooth land travel during the holiday, the government is currently preparing security, safety, and health posts. This step aims to provide a sense of safety and comfort for travelers.
"These posts will be set up in various locations, especially in accident-prone areas. Based on statistics and potential risks, we also want to ensure optimal transportation services," he explained.
Furthermore, the government has officially lowered domestic flight ticket prices and toll rates for the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Flight ticket prices, especially for domestic travel, have been reduced by about 13 to 14 percent.
A 20-percent toll rate reduction has also been applied at all toll roads in the country.
