"The BNPB does not want the people to experience difficulties in mobility for a long time, especially with Eid al-Fitr approaching in the next few weeks," head of the BNPB, Suharyanto, said in a statement received from the agency in Jakarta on Tuesday.
During a coordination meeting between the BNPB and the Bogor district government on Monday, it was revealed that the flash floods severely damaged at least seven bridges in Cisarua sub-district.
While inspecting a broken bridge in Tugu Selatan village on Monday, the BNPB leader shared his plan to request personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to help build Bailey bridges to reconnect isolated areas.
Suharyanto expressed confidence that the construction of the bridges would be completed within the next three weeks.
"We can assure the public that this restoration process will not take too long to complete," he said.
A team from the BNPB's Center for Disaster Data, Information, and Communication reported that the flash floods hit Cisarua, Bogor, on Sunday night.
Reports indicated that torrential rain caused the Cimanceri River to overflow, resulting in the flooding of Cisarua sub-district and surrounding areas.
As per data collected by the BNPB, the disaster has affected around 1,399 residents from 381 families, with 346 people evacuated from their homes. One resident was reportedly swept away by strong currents.
