"If there is a shortage, the public can ask for more. We are ready to help," BNPB Deputy for Emergency Response Lukmansyah noted in a statement on Tuesday.
In handling floods, the BNPB distributed essential items such as ready-to-eat food and evacuation necessities, including mattresses, blankets, and tarpaulins, to flood-affected residents on Monday afternoon.
Deputy Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Hidayat Nur Wahid was also present during the logistic assistance distribution and directly reviewed the flood-affected locations in densely populated residential areas in Rawajati Village, Pancoran Sub-district, South Jakarta.
Lukmansyah ensured his side would immediately map out flood mitigation steps to prevent similar disasters from recurring or at least reduce the impacts caused.
Based on the temporary data from BNPB, 485 families or 1,446 people and 224 houses in Rawajati Village, South Jakarta, were affected by floods, with water levels ranging from 50 centimeters to 1.5 meters.
Lukmansyah stated that the BNPB will soon hold a coordination meeting with regional apparatus organizations in Jakarta and other related parties focused on problem-solving related to the main causes of the flood.
"This flood is not like other. It usually recedes in 4-5 hours, but this has not receded until the afternoon. After we find a solution, we hope the damage is not too severe," he stated.
On a separate occasion, the Jakarta Provincial Government expressed its commitment to conducting repair work on the Ciliwung River to anticipate flooding in the Jakarta area.
"With the National Strategic Program (PSN) on flood control, we will focus more on fixing (problems) and (conducting) repair (work on) Ciliwung River," Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno stated on Tuesday.
He stated that the dredging of reservoirs and rivers was included in his 100-day work program with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
