According to the minister, the national animation industry's ecosystem must be bolstered through the development of local IP.
"The more animators, the richer the creativity. Animation requires an agent of creativity, and the ability of our local animators is no longer in doubt," Harsya noted in his statement on Friday.
The minister also voiced his support for Pipilaka, one of the pioneers of social and environment-based animation works.
He explained that Pipilaka, under the auspices of the Pipilaka Foundation, focuses on organizing educational, social, cultural, and art activities.
Pipilaka's programs aim to develop local animation with an environmental and humanitarian-based approach.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar evaluated Pipilaka as having significant potential to develop an advanced animation ecosystem, especially in terms of technology.
She noted that Pipilaka has the potential to serve as a community organizer so that it can be linked to existing assets.
"Although the focus is more on children, this small action has great meaning for future generations. After the local IP is created, it can be developed into merchandise or collaborate with other well-known local IPs," Irene remarked.
Furthermore, Irene mentioned that Pipilaka's animation works could be displayed in various locations and activations, such as stations, airports, and other public spaces, thereby increasing the visibility of local animators' work.
In addition, Taman Ismail Marzuki and Kota Tua Jakarta can host immersive exhibitions.
Support from the Ministry of Creative Economy is expected to further strengthen Pipilaka's enthusiasm for developing local IP through various creative events based on immersive concepts.
"Pipilaka's animation not only has a business aspect but also a social one, allowing the development of local IP to have a wider impact," she affirmed.
The name Pipilaka originates from Sanskrit, meaning "ant." Pipilaka's philosophy reflects the value of mutual cooperation, highlighting how small actions can have a significant impact.
This foundation focuses on organizing educational art events that support various humanitarian and environmental goals by involving children through animation and live action formats.
