In the virtual handover on Friday, the ministry's Secretary General, Togar M. Simatupang, stated that this scholarship program is one of the government's priority programs for higher education.
"The KIP College scholarship is given to 1,040,192 students this year, including new students," he remarked.
On this occasion, he also mentioned that 9,141 students at various state and private universities in Indonesia received Adik scholarship funds intended for Papuan students, those from the 3T area, and the children of migrant workers.
According to Simatupang, this program aims to ensure higher education is accessible to all levels of society, focusing on economically disadvantaged individuals and those residing in the outermost, most remote, and disadvantaged (3T) areas.
He expressed hope that all stakeholders would understand the detailed mechanism for this scholarship distribution while also educating the community to participate in the sustainability of quality and inclusive higher education.
On the same occasion, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto expressed that this scholarship is expected to inspire the nation's young generation to become ambitious individuals who will contribute to building the country.
"We want to produce young ambitious people to create great works," he noted.
Minister Brian then cited the example of an electric car manufacturer from China, which was initially founded by ambitious young individuals with big dreams. Today, this company's products have become a global representation of China.
"All students here, be ambitious. That is where our hopes are. The hopes of 250 million Indonesians are on your shoulders," Yuliarto reminded.
