Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) is committed to closely monitoring the case of sexual violence against minors allegedly committed by former Ngada District Police Chief, in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara.

"We, together with the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), the National Police Commission, and the Police Criminal Investigation Agency, will continue to ensure that all child victims in this case receive proper attention," the ministry's Deputy for Protection of Children, Nahar, said on Sunday.

There are three children who are victims in this case, aged 6, 13, and 16, along with a 20-year-old women, he said.

Nahar noted that the victims have received the necessary emotional and psychological support to help in their recovery process.

He emphasized that there are four main aspects that must be considered to ensure an effective and comprehensive recovery process for the victims.

The first aspect is prompt handling to avoid more severe impacts on the children, Nahar pointed out.

"The speed of response in addressing the case is crucial to prevent the children from experiencing prolonged trauma," he said.

The second, once the victims are identified, psychological support must be provided immediately to help them cope with the emotional traumas resulting from the incidents they endured.

The third aspect is about supporting the children’s needs during the recovery period. Children who have experienced traumatic events require assistance in various forms, both in terms of basic needs and psychological support, so that they can return to a better quality of life.

Finally, he said there must be assistance and protection during the legal proceedings to ensure that the rights of the children remain protected until the case is concluded.
