Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection has confirmed that victims in the abuse case involving former Ngada Police Chief AKBP FWLS have received assistance.

"Psychosocial support has been provided, and all three children have been reached and assisted," Deputy for Special Protection of Children at the ministry, Nahar, stated in Jakarta on Friday.

Nahar outlined four key priorities in handling child abuse cases, with victim assistance being paramount.

"First, we ensure swift action to prevent further harm and risk to the children. Second, we provide psychological assistance to children confirmed as victims," he explained.

Nahar elaborated that the ministry addresses the immediate needs of the child victims before the final step by guaranteeing assistance and protection throughout the legal process, from initial investigations to subsequent proceedings.

The ministry also directly stepped in to support the three minor victims.

"We acknowledge the efforts of all involved parties. On February 24, following attempts to relocate the children from NTT, we sought to verify the victims' well-being. We tracked them and confirmed that the NTT Regional Police had acted swiftly," Nahar remarked, adding that one child was found in Atambua and evacuated to Kupang.

On Thursday, March 13, FWLS was named a suspect in cases involving immorality and drug use. He faces multiple charges and is detained at the Police Crime Investigation Unit's Detention Center.

FWLS is accused of drug use, child sexual abuse, engaging in sexual intercourse or adultery outside of marriage, and recording and distributing videos of sexual abuse.

The former police chief of Ngada District of East Nusa Tenggara Province allegedly sexually abused three minors, aged six, 13, and 16, and a 20-year-old adult.

Additionally, FWLS is suspected of recording his sexual acts and uploading the videos to a child pornography site or forum on the dark web. The police are investigating his motives.

Further investigation by the Professional and Internal Security Division (Divpropam) confirmed FWLS's positive drug test.
