Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Todotua Pasaribu informed that his office is continuing to coordinate with law enforcement authorities to resolve issues related to certain mass organization members demanding religious holiday allowance (THR) from business owners.

"This is indeed a very crucial issue, and we are continuously coordinating with law enforcement authorities to resolve the issue," he said at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Law enforcement officers from the Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Airport City Police under the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police have expressed their readiness to take firm action against members of mass organizations involved in extorting or charging illegal levies from business owners within their jurisdiction under the guise of THR.

"We from the police will not tolerate any form of extortion that threatens investment and economic stability at Soetta Airport," chief of the Soetta Airport Police, Senior Police Commissioner Ronald F.C. Sipayung, said.

He emphasized that his party is committed to ensuring that the business environment around Soetta Airport remains free from threats by certain groups misusing the names of mass organizations for personal or group interests.

He urged business owners and investors who are aware of or have fallen victim to acts of extortion by certain members of mass organizations to report them to the Soetta Airport Police or call 110.

He added that before taking legal action, his department will prioritize preventive and preemptive measures.

These will take the form of awareness campaigns, guidance, and collaboration with various parties to prevent mass organizations from engaging in unlawful activities.

Earlier, the government directed that religious holiday allowances for workers and laborers and religious holiday bonuses for drivers and couriers working for application-based transportation services be paid no later than seven days before Eid al-Fitr, which falls on March 31 this year.

The THR for central and regional civil servants and retirees will need to be disbursed two weeks before Eid al-Fitr.
