Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is employing various strategies to ensure that mobile networks and telecommunications connectivity remain optimal during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi holidays, a minister stated.

In a press conference on Thursday, Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid noted that the government is partnering with mobile network operators to ensure reliable networks.

"The government and all mobile network operators have agreed to provide support to the entire community through discounted Ramadan and Eid packages of up to 50 percent," she explained.

These discounts of up to 50 percent are being offered in anticipation of a 20 percent surge in mobile network service traffic predicted by the government during the Eid al-Fitr holidays, which coincide with Hindu Nyepi in Bali.

The government and telecommunications providers are optimistic that cheaper plans will meet the digital service demands of the community traveling during the Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi holidays.

In addition to discounted plans, the government and mobile network providers have also set up integrated posts at five strategic points during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming travel.

The posts are located at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, and Gambir Station in Jakarta, among other locations.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs has set up 24/7 coordination posts at 35 radio frequency spectrum monitoring units to monitor and ensure telecommunications networks maintain quality service.

"These measures ensure optimal telecommunications services and enhance traveler safety by preventing disruptions to transportation communications that rely on the radio frequency spectrum," Hafid remarked.
