Meanwhile, he explained that the government's work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy for employees in government agencies and several private companies has led to the early movements of people traveling for homecoming, even 10 days before Eid al-Fitr, or on March 23-24.
“The estimated peak of the homecoming flow will be on March 28 and 29,” Hartantyo remarked when met at Gambir Station here on Monday.
The administrative and bureaucratic reform minister issued Circular No. 2 of 2025 on March 5, permitting civil apparatus (ASN) to work from anywhere from Monday, March 24, to Thursday, March 27.
To manage the expected increase in public mobility during the national holiday and joint leave for the holy days of Nyepi 1947 and Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri, heads of government agencies may adjust the ASN duties in their agencies with combined flexibility, either from office or work from home (WFH) and WFA.
Meanwhile, Rani, a train passenger heading home to Semarang, Central Java, told ANTARA that the WFA policy allows her to work more flexibly, enabling her to perform her duties from her hometown.
Ghea, a worker in the creative industry, commended the government's adoption of a more flexible work model during the Eid homecoming period.
"This is good. Besides being able to go home earlier and spend more time at home (in the hometown), we can also get cheaper tickets," Ghea stated.
