At the Presidential Palace Complex here on Tuesday, he informed that the NDB, a multilateral development bank initiated by BRICS countries, earlier held a discussion with the Ministry of Finance.
It invited Indonesia to become a member, following in the footsteps of several other countries.
Indonesia's participation in the NDB is expected to strengthen cooperation with BRICS countries, especially in terms of funding.
He said that there is no specific collaboration project with the NDB yet, but one of the cooperations being discussed is in the field of conversion of waste into energy.
The NDB has experience in financing similar projects, and Indonesia has been invited to observe their implementation first-hand, he informed.
"We are also invited to see first-hand what they have done because coincidentally, this is also the same as our program, namely how we can convert waste into good energy, which can have a positive impact," he said.
Besides renewable energy, the discussion with the NDB also covered the infrastructure sector, he added.
Meanwhile, during a press conference with the president of the NDB, Dilma Vana Rousseff, President Prabowo Subianto announced the Indonesian government's decision to become a member of the NDB.
"We have been invited to join the New Development Bank, and our financial team has assessed this opportunity. After consulting with the team, the Indonesian government has decided to join the New Development Bank," he said at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
The decision was taken in response to an invitation from Rousseff, considering that Indonesia officially became a full BRICS member earlier this year.
