Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka stated that the Indonesian national football team's victory over Bahrain during Tuesday's match in Jakarta reflects the unwavering spirit of the players.

During the match, which was part of the 2026 World Cup Asian qualifiers, Indonesia won 1-0 over Bahrain.

In a statement received on Wednesday, he expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Indonesian national team, adding that the victory is proof of the team's hard work, discipline, and persistence.

He also urged all Indonesians to continue to give full support to the national team.

Gibran, who was present to spectate the match at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium, reminded the players and coaching team to stay focused on maintaining their performance consistency in the next matches.

In the critical Tuesday match, President Prabowo Subianto was also present at GBK to support the team.

In a tense match, Indonesia defeated Bahrain 1-0, with Ole Romeny scoring a goal in the 24th minute.

For the victory, which reignites Indonesia's hope of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the hard work of the players, the coaching team, and other parties contributing to the success.

Indonesia is currently ranked fourth in the Group C qualifiers with 9 points, right below Saudi Arabia, which secured 10 points; Australia, with 13 points; and Japan, with 20 points.

The Indonesian national team has played eight out of 10 matches in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

After Bahrain, Indonesia will face China on June 5 and Japan on June 10, 2025.
