Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism strengthened collaboration with the Swiss government to enhance the quality of vocational tourism education.

According to the ministry's press release received here on Wednesday, the Tourism Ministry has established cooperation with the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of Switzerland and Swisscontact since 2018 to support the improvement of vocational education and training.

The ministry's Deputy for Resources and Institutions, Martini Paham, stated that the partnership was intensified through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on July 22, 2024.

"Throughout 2024, our cooperation has been going well. Last year, the joint activity agenda and partnership agreements were effectively implemented at various tourism polytechnics in Bali, Makassar, and Lombok," Paham remarked.

She elaborated that the cooperation in vocational education and training with the Swiss government included an industry-based curriculum, capacity building for lecturers, improved teaching methodologies, support for facility management, industry collaboration, and policy dialogue.

The partnership continues in 2025 by focusing on increasing understanding of sustainability values and gender equality.

Meanwhile, the ministry's assistant deputy for capacity building of human resources and vocational education, Andar Danova L. Goeltom, emphasized the importance of evaluating the cooperation activities in 2024 to determine the direction of activities and solutions in 2025.

Among others, the cooperation activities last year resulted in the implementation of the Swiss Federation for Adult Learning Batch 2 training program, which was attended by 17 lecturers from six tourism polytechnics.

"These alumni have not only completed training but also bear the mandate as agents of change at their respective polytechnics," he remarked.
