This was conveyed during a meeting between the two ministers in Jakarta on Thursday.
"We want these (vulnerable, poor, and extremely poor) groups to be empowered by programs of ministries, such as the Ministry of Forestry," Minister Yusuf said in a written statement issued here on Thursday.
He informed that the data on vulnerable, poor, and extremely poor groups that will be used for the program will be based on the National Integrated Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN).
He said that information regarding people who are no longer beneficiaries of social assistance will be submitted to the Ministry of Forestry for further empowerment to make people more independent, rather than dependent on social assistance.
He added that the Ministry of Forestry can later empower residents living around forest areas to reduce poverty.
"We can select residents living around forests, and they can carry out forest-based economic activities. They can be empowered through your programs," he told Minister Antoni.
This step, he said, is a form of follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's instructions.
He noted that the President is targeting to push the poverty rate below 5 percent by 2029 and bring the extreme poverty rate to zero percent by 2026.
Meanwhile, Minister Antoni welcomed the invitation and promised that he will coordinate with the Ministry of Social Affairs to follow up on the plan.
"We should schedule another meeting for MoU (memorandum of understanding). Through the MoU meeting, we can obtain the data, how many things we can do together," he said.
