Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Yassierli has said that his ministry has responded to 60 percent or 1,258 out of the 1,604 complaints and consultation requests received by the Eid al-Fitr allowance help desk.

He added that there are still 127 complaints that have not been responded to.

"We are currently looking into the details," he said after reviewing Eid al-Fitr homecoming arrangements at Pasar Senen Station here on Friday.

He underlined that there is a clear legal basis for the provision of Eid al-Fitr allowance to workers, namely the Manpower Minister's Regulation Number 16 of 2016.

He also responded to the issue of deductions in Eid al-Fitr allowance at Yogyakarta's Sardjito Public Hospital, affirming that the ministry, through the provincial manpower office, will seek clarification on the matter.

The Ministry of Manpower set up the help desk to ensure that the provision of Eid allowance is in line with the regulation. Data received by the help desk will be followed up, verified, and checked directly.

"If it (the case) is confirmed, the first inspection note will be issued, and we will give (the company) one week to respond. If there is no response, a second inspection note will be issued. If there is no response in several days, we will give recommendations," he said.

He informed that the sanctions for companies violating the Eid allowance rules will be graded into several levels, and a fine will be imposed for late payment of the allowance.

"The most severe sanction will be a recommendation from the Ministry of Manpower related to the continuity of the company's business," he said.

Last year, he informed, the ministry processed all complaints, and most of them were resolved. A number of unresolved issues will be followed up with legal action.

"Eid allowance is mandatory; the regulation is clear," he stressed.
