Following the Eid prayer, naval base commander Brigadier General Wahyudi gave the green light to residents looking to board and take photographs aboard the warships and instructed his officers to provide assistance.
"We welcome residents who wish to board the warships. Our personnel will guide you, and you can take pictures on board," Wahyudi stated.
Residents who joined the Eid prayer at the naval base, especially those with children, then flocked to see and board the warships docked there. Naval base officers helped them get aboard based on their commander's instructions.
Most of those who boarded the warships were teenagers and children, while others took photos only in front of the ship.
In addition to the warship, residents were spotted taking selfies at the Jalesveva Jayamahe Anchor Monument, the cannon monument, and the bird and rare animal sanctuary at the naval base.
A resident named Farhan said he was impressed to see the warship and other defense equipment at the base.
"I am happy that I can take pictures in front of the Navy warship. It is a rare moment for us Makassarians to visit here because of the restricted nature of the Navy Main Base," he affirmed.
