Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Alms Agency (Baznas) is sending humanitarian aid for earthquake victims in Myanmar on Tuesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad said the aid would be delivered alongside contributions from other ministries and agencies, following directives from President Prabowo Subianto.

"We are very concerned about the earthquake in Myanmar. Many victims have lost their homes and need immediate assistance. Therefore, Baznas and various parties are working quickly to assist," he remarked.

According to Achmad, the first aid shipment prepared by Baznas includes 100 generators, 50 tents, 10 thousand sarongs, and five thousand packages each of women's essentials and children's necessities.

The agency's chairman emphasized that the volume of aid sent will continue to increase periodically according to the needs at the disaster location.

Achmad affirmed that his organization remains committed to assisting people stricken by the disaster, even when the calamity struck in foreign countries.

He explained that this humanitarian mission involves multiple entities, including the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), and the National Police (Polri).

"All parties work together to ensure the aid distribution immediately reaches the target under the coordination of the coordinating minister for human development and culture based on the president's direction," he noted.

He expressed hope that joint efforts between the government, humanitarian agencies, and various elements of society will alleviate the hardships faced by the victims and support post-disaster recovery in Myanmar.
