According to a press release from the ministry received in Jakarta on Friday, the humanitarian aid was received by Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Soe Kyi.
The humanitarian aid consisted of 143 tons of logistical supplies valued at Rp22.6 billion (approximately US$1.3 million), comprising food, medicine, medical equipment, and shelter supplies.
Indonesia also dispatched a joint team consisting of personnel from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS), an Emergency Medical Team from the Ministry of Health, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Indonesian Aid Team's head stated that the humanitarian assistance symbolizes Indonesia's solidarity with the people of Myanmar and reflects Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening disaster management cooperation among ASEAN countries.
The Indonesian team joined several other countries that also sent Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams to provide first aid and search for earthquake victims in Myanmar.
The Foreign Ministry stated that upon arrival in Naypyitaw, the Indonesian team immediately assessed the earthquake-affected areas around Myanmar's capital and proceeded to the Indonesian Joint Operations Center.
The ministry also reported that the Indonesian team had evacuated five Indonesian citizens impacted by the earthquake from Mandalay to Yangon, four of whom were categorized as vulnerable individuals.
To date, around 2,886 people have been reported dead, 4,636 injured, and 351 missing as a result of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar.
