"The Ministry of Social Affairs is utilizing the DTSEN to manage the distribution of social aid and social protection for people, including laid-off workers," Yusuf remarked at his ministry's headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The minister noted that the government has been working to streamline the DTSEN, which undergoes updates every three months.
The minister also highlighted the potential for increased funding for social aid if the national databank detects an increase in the number of citizens falling into the category of poor or extremely poor.
"Everything depends on the situation and conditions. While we currently have no plans to increase the aid budget, things might change next year. For now, we are using the available budget," he remarked.
Furthermore, the official underlined that the government recognizes the concerns voiced by employers and workers over the threat of layoffs currently evident in Indonesia.
In light of this, he mentioned that President Prabowo Subianto had urged the establishment of a task force to address layoffs and assist those affected.
During an economic forum on Tuesday (April 8), the president highlighted that such a task force is necessary to anticipate the potential impact of layoffs resulting from the tariff policy introduced by the United States.
"I find it necessary to establish a layoff task force involving the government, labor unions, academics, rectors, BPJS (state insurance provider), and others. We need a task force as an anticipatory measure," he remarked in Jakarta.
Prabowo made this directive in response to a suggestion presented by Indonesian Labor Unions Confederation (KPSI) President Said Iqbal during the forum.
