This statement was conveyed by chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and secretary general of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, here on Wednesday.
He said that Megawati and Prabowo discussed the US tariff policy during Prabowo's visit to Megawati's residence on Teuku Umar Street, Central Jakarta, on Monday night.
"Both agreed that this (the US tariff) should be used as momentum for the revival of Indonesian products," Muzani informed at the parliament complex.
He estimated that the tariff policy could potentially raise the prices of imported goods, so imports would only be carried out for certain products.
"Since using imported products may become increasingly expensive, only certain products might continue to be imported. This is the time for Indonesian products to take the lead in the country, so let us love Indonesian products," he said.
Muzani said that during the meeting, Megawati also shared her experiences regarding national economic recovery.
"Mrs. Megawati shared her experience in national economic recovery, which was also not easy at that time (during her term), and Mr. Prabowo paid close attention to the various insights and experiences shared by her regarding national economic recovery," he added.
Soekarnoputri, who is also chairperson of the Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), welcomed President Prabowo at her residence on Monday night.
The meeting on Monday was part of a meet-up visit after the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri.
