Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Ministry aims to inspire Indonesian women to be strong and creative through the Women Empowerment Conference 2025.

The conference will be organized in collaboration with the Puteri Indonesia Foundation and PT Mustika Ratu.

Deputy for gender equality at the ministry, Amurwani Dwi Lestariningsih, said that the event will feature businesswomen, educational figures, and cultural activists as speakers.

"These figures will share inspiring thoughts, explaining how they overcame challenges to reach their current level in society," she added in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Lestariningsih highlighted that some women face a dual burden, as they are responsible for sustaining their families' economy and taking care of their children at home.

"I am convinced that when a woman has an income, she will tend to use her earnings to support her family," she stated.

Meanwhile, chairperson of the advisory board of the Puteri Indonesia Foundation, Putri Kus Wisnu Wardani, emphasized the importance of building synergy among stakeholders across sectors to create a better environment for women to grow, lead, and get involved in strategic decision-making.

In this regard, she underscored that her foundation, which organizes the Puteri Indonesia pageant—similar to Miss Indonesia—intends to make the most of the planned conference to echo the women empowerment messages the pageant carries to more women from different backgrounds.

"Since its inception, the Puteri Indonesia Foundation has remained committed to its noble mission of producing women who are not only smart and accomplished but also care about their social environment," she said.

The Women Empowerment Conference is set to take place at the Westin Hotel, Jakarta, on April 14, 2025.

The figures scheduled to deliver speeches at the event include Lestariningsih, PT Mustika Ratu director Kusuma Ida Anjani, and Melati Tedja, who won the title of Putri Indonesia (Miss Indonesia) of Education and Culture at last year's Puteri Indonesia pageant.
