The National Alms Agency (Baznas) intensified its collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia.
"The collaboration between Baznas and UNDP reflects the synergy between local strengths and international partners. Alms, infaq, and donation (ZIS) are no longer just short-term social assistance but have become an impactful long-term financing instrument," Baznas Deputy Chairman Mokhamad Mahdum remarked here on Friday.
He stated that ZIS holds significant potential as an innovative development financing mechanism and assured that the alms collected from the community would deliver long-term impacts.
Mahdum expressed Baznas' openness to leveraging technology and innovation in implementing programs, including collaborating with relevant ministries and agencies to replicate successful programs.
"We believe that through cross-sector cooperation, alms can become a systemic solution that strengthens the social and economic resilience of communities," he stated.
His side is ready to synergize with other ministries and agencies to replicate successful programs.
"We want alms to be a primary driver of sustainable development. By strengthening this collaboration, Baznas can play a more significant role in supporting national and global development goals, especially in achieving the SDGs," he affirmed.
UNDP Indonesia's Deputy Resident Representative, Sujala Pant, welcomed this strengthening partnership, underscoring Indonesia's immense potential in utilizing innovative financing, such as ZIS, to realize SDGs.
Pant praised Indonesia's success in issuing instruments, such as SDG Bond and Green Sukuk, which serve as global models for development financing.
Hence, collaborating with Baznas is expected to boost the realization of SDGs by targeting the most vulnerable communities.
"Baznas has a strategic position and strong experience in reaching communities at the grassroots level. UNDP sees big opportunities in expanding the impact of development programs through closer collaboration between Baznas and relevant ministries," she stated.
