According to the Indonesian Ministry of Culture's press release, received here on Friday, the collaboration was formalized through an agreement signed by the Ministry of Culture and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The film exploring the historical ties between Indonesia and the Ottoman Empire aims to help enhance historical literacy among young people while fostering stronger bilateral relations between the two countries.
Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon also met with Turkey's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, to discuss opportunities for cooperation between both nations in the field of culture.
Meanwhile, in his speech at the Turkish Parliament, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia-Turkey relations date back to the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.
Turkey also supported Indonesia during its struggle against Portuguese colonialism in the archipelago.
Indonesia and Turkey have maintained strong relations that trace back centuries, long before the formal establishment of diplomatic ties in 1950.
Hence, President Prabowo expressed hope that these close ties between the two countries would contribute to enhancing global solidarity in pursuit of justice and equality in the world, including supporting the Palestinian people's struggle for independence.
Beyond cultural cooperation, Indonesia and Turkey agreed to strengthen partnerships in higher education and research.
"To strengthen cultural and educational relations, we plan to open an Indonesian Language and Literature program at Istanbul University," Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto noted in a statement.
