"(Becoming) migrant workers can pave the way to prosperity if taken seriously, working in the right places, and by following the proper procedures," she said while delivering a public lecture at vocational education institution LPKS Balindo Paradiso on Friday.
According to a ministry release received here on Saturday, Aryani delivered the lecture to students studying hospitality and cruise ship hospitality.
She also explained how migrant workers have helped improve the local economy.
For instance, she said, regions where most migrant workers come from, such as Kendal, Central Java, have seen a spike in land prices and home sales, driven by the contributions of migrant workers.
"Migrant workers influence the market, where land prices there have surged," she added.
She informed that Indonesia is exploring opening up new market opportunities, particularly in the hospitality and cruise sectors.
In 2024, the P2MI Ministry placed 297 thousand migrant workers, and this year, it is targeting 425 thousand placements.
"We want to open up more non-traditional markets, such as the Netherlands, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Australia, and the United States," she said.
She also reminded graduates of LPKS Balindo Paradiso who wish to work abroad to ensure the legality of their documents, such as passports, visas, and employment contracts.
"They should be read and understood well, as they form a bond between you and the employer. After signing, we are considered to have understood the contents of the contract," she said.
